Canada’s government has plans to help about 700,000 homeowners acquire loans they can easily pay via the Canada Greener Homes Grant venture. The goal is to invest $2.6 billion in a span of 7 years to aid people to build or repair their homes in ways that they could reduce their energy bills and make their homes more energy-efficient.
To help achieve the plan, the 2021 Federal Budget had a $4.4 billion budget proposal that will last up to 5 years. The amount is intended to help around 200,000 Canadian homeowners acquire up to $40,000 interest-free loans to make their homes energy-efficient.
How to Take Advantage of the Deal?
Once given the tax incentives and grants, make sure that you spend the money-making the needed repairs in your home. It is recommended to begin with proper airflow and insulation before anything else. When you are done with the basics, you should look into appliances and other devices that can contribute to lower monthly bills.
Having an energy-efficient home saves monthly bills and is cheaper to make and maintain. There will also come a time when homes would be required to have energy labeling before homeowners could resell. It is already being implemented in Europe, and Canada and the US have plans to follow suit.
How to Apply for Interest-Free Loans?
First, you need to sign up for an Ecohome membership. This is free of charge. Once all the details and requirements for the Greener Homes loans are laid out, they will inform you regarding the application process and eligibility requirements.
